Biography

Alec Aliknak Banksland was a carver and printmaker, devoting most of his artistic career to the latter. Residing in Ulukhaktok, NT, he was a founding member of the Holman Printmaking program, and has worked under many names in his career, including Peter Aliknak, and simply Aliknak. He worked in a variety of printmaking techniques, including screen printing, yet etching was his preferred method. His work was featured in the Holman Annual Print Collection from 1967-1994. His work is represented in many international public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, and the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC.View Long Biography and Citations
