Couzyn van Heuvelen was born in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and lives in southern Ontario. Van Heuvelen received his BFA from York University in 2011 and his MFA in 2015. His artistic practice primarily consists of sculptural and installation works. Van Heuvelen draws from Inuit art history and contemporary Inuit life and plays with forms and materials, resulting in works that are both grounded in history and fused with modern materials and notions. His works include intricate details, such as geometric, laser-cut designs, but, overall, are minimal in presentation.View Long Biography and Citations
