Biography

David Kilabuk is a photographer based in Panniqtuuq (Pangnirtung), NU. Kilabuk first became interested in photography in childhood when his father shared his Polaroid camera with him. However, he wasn’t able to shoot as much as he would have liked because his dad would have to get the film for him. Kilabuk made the switch to digital in 2004, which provided him with opportunities to shoot and experiment more. Echoing an analogue aesthetic, his stunning black and white photograph titled “Raven” (2016) provides a glimpse into the wildlife of the Canadian Arctic. Kilabuk uses social media to circulate the photographs he has taken of his community.View Long Biography and Citations
