The Igloo Tag Trademark
The Igloo Tag Trademark is an internationally recognized symbol that denotes handmade, original artwork made by Inuit artists in Canada. Established in 1958, the Trademark is now managed by the Inuit Art Foundation. The appearance of the Igloo Tag on an artist profile means they have had the Trademark applied to their artwork.

Biography

Jutai Toonoo was an illustrator, printmaker, jeweller and sculptor based out of Kinngait, NU. Toonoo learned to carve at a young age from his father and began his artistic career in the 1990s, beginning with sculpting and moving towards drawing and printmaking. Toonoo became known for a bold art style that was representative of his emotional process. His works are dark and humorous, often focusing on religious themes or the social issues that concerned him within his community. Toonoo’s work has been exhibited extensively and is held in several major Canadian art institutions. He has also been featured multiple times in the Inuit Art Quarterly.View Long Biography and Citations
