Biography

Malaija Pootoogook is known for her depictions of birds, most notable in the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collections, beginning in 2011. Great-granddaughter of graphic artist Pitseolak Ashoona, from whom she draws inspiration, Pootoogook's artistic practice begins with drawings, and is later translated into prints. Depicting wildlife imagery, Pootoogook's imagination provides a light-hearted sense of play to her work.View Long Biography and Citations
