Date of Death:

Artists may have multiple dates of death listed as a result of when and where they passed away. Similar to date of birth, an artist may have passed away outside of a community centre or in another community resulting in different dates being recorded.

Hannah Kigusiuq was born in 1931 in Hanningajuq (Garry Lake), Northwest Territories. In the mid 1950s, along with her husband, Kigusiuq relocated to Qamani'tuaq (Baker Lake) and began to pursue art. Kigusiuq developed her artistic practice in drawing scenes of things she knew: life on the land, camp life, and the people around her. Encouraged by the local crafts manager, Kigusiuq worked primarily in drawing and printmaking, her work featured in the Baker Lake Annual Print Collection many times. With her works included in many important exhibitions across North America since the 1970s, Kigusiuq’s art continues to receive acclaim.View Long Biography and Citations
