Mayoreak Ashoona is the daughter of Agiak Petaulassie and Sheouak Parr Petaulassie. Originally from a Saturituk camp near Kinngait, Ashoona began to sculpt and draw at a very young age. In 1963, she gained prominence for her imaginative and colourful drawings and her dynamic and unique. Since the first publication of her work in 1978, Ashoona has been consistently represented in Cape Dorset's Annual Print Collection. Ashoona's work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally. She was elected as a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2003.View Long Biography and Citations
