Biography

Qaunaq lived a traditional life on the land before moving to Cape Dorset with her husband and parents. Her mother, Mary Qayuaryuk, was a talented artist, doing both drawing and carving. Qaunaq did not attempt to draw until 1960 but abandoned her initial efforts and did not try again until the late seventies. Five of her drawings were subsequently made into prints between 1980 and 1986. As well as drawing, Qaunaq has been honoured for her jewellery designs. - "Strange Scenes," Blodgett & Gustavison, 1993, p. 52.View Long Biography and Citations
